South Korea is an artificial puppet state of US imperialism, it is backed up militarily by 30,000 US military personnel and sophisticated weaponery, in particular about 1,000 nuclear war heads trained on the DPRK.
There is mass unemployment, massive differences in wealth between the richest and the poorest, prostitution, destitution and drug and alcohol abuse in the South of Korea. Its schools and education system fail to meet the requirements of the people and its health system is deteriorating rapidly.
Public protest is ruthlessly suppressed by the police, involvement in pro DPRK activities is illegal, membership of a communist organisation is also banned and can lead to a seven year jail sentence.
By way of contrast, in the socialist North of Korea:
1)Primary,secondary and university education are free.
2)Recently the World Health Organisation praised the DPRK’s health service as the best in the developing world.
3)All medical treatment in the DPRK is free of charge, including transport to hospital. The DPRK has 30 doctors per 10,000 people and no shortage of hospital beds.
4)The DPRK is an independent socialist power, it is self reliant and has a productive and stable economy. Guided by revolutionary Songun and Juche idea politics of the Workers Party of Korea, the DPRK is in the cutting edge in the struggle against world imperialism led by the US.
5) There is no shortage of housing, there is mass construction of high quality housing and there is no homelessness.
6 There is currently the construction of large hydro electric power stations and the modernisation of production processes.
7)There is no unemployment.
8) High quality food is provided at low cost by the state.
9)Large scale agricultural mechanisation is continuing, there are both state owned farms and cooperatives.
10)The DPRK has a nuclear deterrent which was build by themselves and prevents US imperialism from attacking them

Desperate to prevent any influence from the DPRK seeping into the south Korean population which will mean the end of the south Korean regime sooner or letter ,the puppets resorted to a 2 pronged strategy-one is simple repression -7 years in jail for “communist” or pro north pro leftist activities.The 2nd prong is much sophiscated it is massive propaganda to discredit the DPRK to portray it as the same or even as worse than south Korea.In fact the south Korean rulers propaganda adopts the tactic of a cunning mental patient that of projecting their own image on their questioner.
South Korea has a huge different between the rich and poor so they peddle stories about “privilieges” and ” big houses” in the DPRK.Similarly the DPRK is potrayed as repressive but is south Korea where ideological divergences are suppressed.
Many in south Korea and jobless and live in slums so the puppets vociferate about “starvation” in the DPRK.
Much of Seouls propaganda (including even stupid myths like a ban on women wearing trousers ) is copied directly by major imperialist media outlets and syndicated.This turn is tinged with the usual cynical post modernism and the newer forms of anti communism.With the end of the cold war some forms of anti communist propaganda died or ceased to be relevant(ie Soviet invasion stories) but were replaced by more equally and in some cases more pernicious anti communist ideas (such as simply it is an aberration,cant and wont work etc etc).All these forms a heady mixture of anti DPRK,anti socialist and anti Juche propaganda.
Unfortuneatly ideology has never been the strong point of the left in many imperialist
countries so some so called communists and socialists buy into this propaganda all
too readily.
I can say as some one who visited the DPRK countryside around Sariwon city that there was no famine or starvation.Plenty of food was on sale in Sariwon city.The DPRK countryside is one of the most egalitarian in the world with no big house or big country estates or latifundia.

The UK Korean Friendship Association fully supports the statement of the DPRK Foreign Ministry of August 20th that Japan should make an immediate apolegy to the DPRK and finally pay reparations to the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea.
The atrocities of Japanese imperialism in Asia far exceeded the atrocities of the Hitler nazis.The Japanese imperialists fabricated a treaty a 100 years ago and seized control of Korea making it a colony.Untold crimes and plunder were committed by the Japanese aggressors in Korea including forcing Korean women into sexual slavery and
the mass theft of treasures and resources of Korea.
Massive damage was done to the development of the Korean nation by
Japanese colonialism and the sufferings of the Korean people were immeasurable.
It is only just that Japan apoligises to the DPRK ,though belatedly and pays reparations.
Moreover Japan should stop repressing the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan,the legitmate organisation of Koreans and stop enforcing sanctions on the DPRK.
The Japanese imperialists must take their hands off Tok Islet.

Today the ASSPUK and JISGE issued a joint statement saluting the 50th anniversary of the start of the Songun revolutionary leadership,a landmark event in the history of the Songun revolution and the history of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea.
The Songun revolutionary leadership started on the 25th of August when the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il made an inspection of the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su 105 Guards Tank Division of the Korean People’s Army.This KPA unit itself had profound historical significance as was named after an anti Japanese revolutionary fighter who had also been a divisional commander in the Fatherland Liberation War.The tank divsion had liberated Seoul in the Fatherland Liberation War breaking throught the barrier of national division imposed by the US imperialists.
The guidance,of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il to Seoul Ryu Kyong Su 105 tank division epitimotised the revolutionary Songun idea and spirit of putting military affairs first and politics second. Moreover it put forward the concept of the army as the pillar of the revolution.This brilliantly encapsulated the whole experience of the Korean revolution which began and advanced by the force of arms.
Leader Kim Jong Il strengthened the KPA ideologically and political as well increasing its combat strength.He ensured the KPA was modelled on the monolithic ideology of Juche and was an army of the leader.
The KPA and Korean people under the Songun revolutionary leadership achieving great feat in defending the country from the US imperialists.The KPA captured the USS Pueblo and brought down the US imperialist aggressor spy plane the EC121.They resolutely countered the US imperialist provocation at Panmumjom in 1976 and intercepted the Yankee helicopter that had intruded into DPRK airspace in 1994.
Thanks to the inspired Songun revolutionary leadership of the great leader comrade Kim Jong,fearless commander of Mt Paektu the DPRK faced down the US in the first and second ‘nuclear crisis’ in which the US imperialists and international reactionaries tried to stifle Korean style people centred socialism.

Pyongyang, August 21 (KCNA) — The Lee Myung Bak group of traitors took such fascist action as arresting Rev. Han Sang Ryol, permanent adviser of the Solidarity for Progress of south Korea, on August 20 on the charge of violation of the notorious “National Security Law” after his visit to the DPRK, according to south Korean MBC and CBS.
The fascist agents arrested him the moment he went back via Panmunjom. He is now questioned at the Phaju Police Station in Kyonggi Province.
After branding his visit to the DPRK as “illegal,” they are harshly suppressing him, questioning him who was behind to sponsor it.
But Han is offering stubborn resistance against them.

Han Sang Ryol, reunification champion of south Korea, by taking his both arms the moment he crossed the demarcation line dividing Korea into the north and the south. A spokesman for the North Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in a statement released on Sunday bitterly denounced in the name of all Koreans the group of traitors for unreasonably arresting and detaining Rev. Han for punishment despite the DPRK’s warning and concern of public at home and abroad. All the activities conducted by him throughout his stay in the north can never be a crime under any circumstances as they were entirely just and praiseworthy ones for defending and implementing the north-south joint declaration and achieving reconciliation, unity and reunification of the nation, the statement said, and went on: Had the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors neither brought the inter-Korean relations to a collapse nor blocked the activities of reunification movement organizations nor pushed the situation to the brink of a war through such hideous anti-DPRK plots as the warship case and exercises for a war of aggression against the north, Rev. Han would not have taken the trouble of making a trip at the risk of his life. Rev. Han chanted at the top of his voice the slogan “Long live the attainment of reunification and peace in the spirit of By our nation itself,” crossing the above-said line is the irresistible echo of the era. The Lee group should set free at once Rev. Han who had been thrown into behind bars at the point of bayonet and immediately stop the fascist suppression of the reunification movement organizations of people of various circles. All Koreans at home and abroad should turn out as one in the actions for seeking the release of pro-reunification patriotic personages including the unjustly arrested Rev. Han and holding in check the moves of the puppet group to escalate the confrontation with fellow countrymen. |

Han Sang Ryol, reunification champion of south Korea who visited the DPRK on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the June 15 joint declaration. His visit to the DPRK was fully supported by all the Koreans at home and abroad as it was a manifestation of his firm will to instill patriotism for reunification into the Koreans and give a steady continuity to the trend of independent reunification, and a quite just and righteous action to defend and implement the June 15 joint declaration and achieve national reconciliation and unity, the statement said, and went on: By arresting him the Lee Myung Bak regime self-exposed the anti-reunification nature of the authorities of the south side who persistently pursue division and confrontation against improved south-north relations and the peaceful reunification of the country, to say nothing of the implementation of the June 15 joint declaration. The Lee regime should stop suppressing Rev.
