Democratic People’s Republic of Korea –
60 years of Victory and Glory

First of all, I would like to express warm welcome to you who are participating in this seminar with the firm solidarity to the just cause of the Korean people.

 

At the same time, I would like to pay the highest tribute to the great President Kim Il Sung, the founder of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and also I would like to extend the warmest congratulations and greetings to the esteemed leader Kim Jong Il, the Chairman of the National Defense Commission (NDC) of DPRK who is inheriting the president's cause of building the country.

 

The current seminar is all the more significant as it is held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of H.E. Kim Jong Il, the great leader of the Korean people and the chairman of the NDC.

 

Firmly believing that this seminar will give opportunity to have a better understanding about the President Kim Il Sung and H.E. Kim Jong Il, the prominent great men of Korea, and about the DPRK and its people, I would like to submit the report regarding the agenda of the seminar in session.

 

Korean people will mark in this year the 60th founding anniversary of their glorious homeland, DPRK. DPRK has vigorously advanced along the road of constant victory and glory during the past 60 years under the leadership of the President Kim Il Sung and H.E. Kim Jong Il.

 

President Kim Il Sung, who was born and grown up in the patriotic family, had embarked on the revolutionary struggle in his teens for the independence of the country and the liberation of the people. Since then, he waged the 20-year-long arduous anti-Japanese war and accomplished the historic cause of national liberation in the long run.

 

The President founded the DPRK- the first of its kind in the east Asia- on 9th September 1948 on the basis of the good tradition of state power building established during the period of anti-Japanese revolutionary armed struggle.

 

With the foundation of the DPRK, the Korean people could finally have the true homeland that protects and takes care of their own destiny and they could achieve their age-long ardent desire to lead a dignified life as the genuine masters of the of the country and the society.

 

The DPRK has splendidly fulfilled its mission and duty true to the genuine people's state power (government) during the past 60 years since its foundation by overcoming all the difficulties and challenges.

 

In 1950's, DPRK made the historic miracle by defeating the armed invasion of the US imperialists who boasted of being the 'strongest' in the world under the gifted leadership of the President Kim Il Sung, even though the former was only 2 years old since its foundation. And it has established the socialist powerful country in the northern part of the Korean peninsula which is independent, self-sufficient and self-reliant in defense by successfully accomplishing the postwar rehabilitation and construction and socialist industrialization under the adverse conditions in which everything was destroyed into ruins during the 3-year-long Korean War.

 

The President's cause of building the country is now being carried on with honor and credit by H.E. Kim Jong Il.

 

The 90's of the last century was the most difficult period when the Koreans had to go through all the adversities in the so called "Arduous March".

 

With the falling down of 'Berlin Wall' in November 1989 as a momentum, the socialist system has collapsed consecutively in the former Soviet Union and other east European countries. Moreover, Korean suffered the great loss with the demise of the President Kim Il Sung out of a sudden.

 

The whole country was plunged into the deep grief with the heartbreaking sorrow for the loss of the father of the nation, and it faced with the severe difficulties in the national economy due to the collapse of the socialist market on which the country had mostly relied in the foreign trade and due to the persistent economic blockade of the US imperialists.

 

To make matters worse, torrential rain, typhoon, tidal wave and the drought hit the country consecutively. Due to the shortage of raw material, fuel and electric power, factories and production enterprises stopped operation, and the people were not supplied with the food and basic daily commodities, thus the whole country was forced to go on an "Arduous March" in the true sense of the word.

 

The US and its allied forces were hell-bent on the political and military pressure and economic blockade upon the DPRK, as they were waiting for the opportunity to come.

 

Under the pretext of the "nuclear issue", the pressure against the DPRK was clamored out, the latest military equipment and vast armed forces were deployed on the Korean peninsula and its surrounding area ,and the large-scale military exercises against the DPRK were ceaselessly staged.

 

The situation on the Korean peninsula reached to the brink of a war and the Korean people stood at the crossroad of confrontation and submission.

 

At the very moment when the destiny of the country and the nation was to be decided, H.E. Kim Jong Il, the chairman of the NDC of the DPRK chose the Songun politics, the army-first politics which embodied the principle of giving priority and attaching importance to the military affairs, while envisaging that only with the Songun politics which relies on the revolutionary army, the Korean people could overcome the extreme difficulties and accelerate the socialist construction with success.

 

He refreshed the system of the state leadership by making the NDC as the backbone of the country to ensure the guarantee and foundation for Songun politics, and he put the republic on the strong military ground by channeling the great effort to strengthening the military force and to the development of the defense industry. And the great leader encouraged the army to make a breakthrough in the economy construction and brought about new miracles and leaping advances while guiding the whole people to learn after the revolutionary spirit and characteristics of the army.

 

Despite the rainy, snowy and windy weathers, H.E. Kim Jong Il visited every corner of the country like military posts and units, factories, farms and schools etc, and energetically led the soldiers and people to victory.

 

There can be found no single place across the country where his footmarks are not left. And there were no relaxing holidays or weekends for him, and even his birthday was a normal working day.

 

That's the reason why the people consider him as the great leader and the benevolent father protecting and taking care of the people's destiny, and the people unite as one around him with same idea and will. Thanks to the Songun leadership of H.E. Kim Jong Il and the power of the unity of the Party, the Army and the people around him, Korea didn't "collapse" or "stifled" as the western world predicted, and it has become even stronger.

 

The economic difficulties that brought such a trouble to the people were surmounted, all the fields of the economy were activated and successes attracting the public attention like the launch of the artificial satellite were achieved.

 

Now the Korean people raised the national economy and the people's living standard up to a high level based on a powerful politics and military power and now they are conducting an energetic struggle with a magnificent objective, thus to open wide in 2012, the year of the 100th anniversary of the birthday of H.E. President Kim Il Sung, the gate to a great, prosperous and powerful country without fail.

 

The Songun politics of H.E. Kim Jong Il has opened a new radical phase in the national reunification of Korea.

 

In June 2000, when the new century was starting, the summit meeting of the North and the South was held in Pyongyang and the historical June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was proclaimed. Following this, in October 2007, the second North-South summit was held and the "Declaration for the Development and the Peaceful prosperity" was signed.

 

The atmosphere of reconciliation and the unity between the North and the South mounted higher under the banner of "by the force of the Korean people itself" and the cooperation and the exchange in the economical and cultural field are pushed forward actively.

 

The voice and the influence of the DPRK in the international arena are raised higher, people from all walks of life in different countries of the world express sympathy with the Songun politics of Korea and demonstrate full support to and solidarity with its foreign policy.

 

Most of the western countries which neglected and disregarded the DPRK have established diplomatic relationship with the latter and a large number of countries are willing to keep good friendly relationship with it.

 

With the Songun politics of H.E. Kim Jong Il, the dignity and the national defense power of DPRK reached the top level and the Korean people are now enjoying the heyday of prosperity unprecedented in its national history of five thousand years.

 

Now a lot of people are admiring and curious about the secret of the fact how Korea, small in terms of territory and population, could defend its dignity, idea and system in such a worst situation, Then what is the secret of it?

 

It is nothing but the outstanding leadership of Songun of H.E. Kim Jong Il, Chairman of the National Defence Commission.

 

The leadership and the Songun politics of H.E. Kim Jong Il are the very invincible banner and precious sword leading the DPRK to the only way of victory.

 

As long as there is the great Songun politics of H.E. Kim Jong Il, the DPRK will always be victorious and glorious.

 

Long live the great Songun politics !

 

Long live the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the DPRK !
