         During the war, the American imperialists launched an average amount of 18 bombs per each square meter converting all Pyongyang and other cities into ashes. The industry, agriculture, railways, hospital were totally destroyed.

         The situation after the war was so difficult that the people didn't know where to start for the reconstruction, but the people totally trusted in the Leader and the Leader trusted in the heroic people.

          The Great Leader President Kim II Sung asked the people to start a big effort for the reconstruction and the building of a new Korea, with the confidence that whenever will exist the people's power and the Party will be possible to build a new life.

          In just three years, more than 280 big companies with modern equipment were built, and in 1956 the agriculture production was much bigger than the pre-war level.

THE CHOLLIMA MOVEMENT

          The situation inside and outside the country was very difficult. The country needed all kind of raw materials , the people still lived in a difficult situation and the Yankee imperialists started a big anti-communist campaign with the menace of the 'March to the North'.
          In this critical situation, the Great Leader asked the people to put even more energies to finish the basic construction of the country.

          The Kangson workers produced 120,000 tons of processed steel in a blooming that had capacity only for 60.000, the workers from the Iron factory 'Kim Chek' 270,000 tons of iron in bars, where the oven had a maximum capacity of 190,000. The result was that in 1957 the industrial production raised at a rhythm of 44%.

          These people compromised with the country was called the 'Chollima Movement'. The Great Leader Kim II Sung said:

          'The Choilima Movement became a great revolutionary movement of millions of workers from our country, that sweeps the old ideas and produce continuous innovations in all the areas of the economy, culture, ideology and moral, accelerating the socialist construction at a speed without precedents'

THE CHONGSANRI SPIRIT

          In February of 1960 the Great Leader made a visit to the Chongsan commune in Kangso District, Piong-an South province.

          During the inspection of the zone, he created the Chongsanri Spirit and method saying:

          'The essential in the Chongsanri method means that the superior organism always help the inferior one. The superior always assist the subordinates and he goes always to the working areas to understand the real situation and take the correct measures to solve the problems; he gives preference to the political work, to the people's work in all the activities, and improves the enthusiasm and the creative initiative of the masses to accomplish the revolutionary tasks'


          This method made a great change with the work of the Party, State and Economy. All the directors had a deep contact with the workers and always stay with them to know their necessities and ideas..

TRANSFORMATION OF THE SOCIETY FOLLOWING THE JUCHE IDEA


          In the VI Congress of the Workers Party of Korea, the Great Leader President Kim II Sung said:

          'To transform all the society according to the Juche Idea is the general task of our revolution. Only in this way we can definitively achieve the purpose of the
Chajusong (Self-reliance) for the worker's masses'


          Today, the Korean people full of hopes about the future and with a firm faith in the victory of the revolution, is united like a single man with the idea of transforming the society following the lathe Idea under the teachings of the Great Leader Kim Il Sung and the wise direction of the Dear Comrade Kim Jong Il.

          Pyongyang and the today's North Korea is a socialist paradise where all the people have a life with dignity, without poverty and more than ever demonstrate the invincibility and union of the masses around the Leader.
