World people’s reverence for President Kim Il Sung

Although he passed away 15 years ago, President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994) still receives gifts, orders, medals and honorary titles from many counties of the world.

In Mt. Myohyang, a picturesque, famous mountain in Korea, there is the International Friendship Exhibition, which displays the gifts sent to Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. In the exhibition house there is a hall devoted to the gifts from foreigners, south Korean people and overseas Koreans to Kim Il Sung after his death. The people are moved by their contents, value, and artistic quality as well as the efforts made for preparing them and their meaning.

The two cameras sent by the leader of the Japanese Sports Peace Party, the goldwork representing a horse by a figure in Hong Kong, China, the silk quilt by the secretary general of the World Peace Federation, and Kim Il Sung’s life-sized wax statue by the Communist Party and the government of China imply that he will always be with them, peoples of the world. The glasswork The Eternal Sun of Juche and many other gifts represent that he illuminates forever the road to be followed by mankind like the sun. The bronzework A crane Tramples a Tortoise, the jewelwork A Tree of Hope, the woodwork Eagle, and all others, though sent by the different people, represent the wish of the peoples of the world over for Kim Il Sung’s eternity with mankind.

In the Central Zoo and Central Botanical Garden in Pyongyang, there are a great number of animals and plants sent by foreign countries and international organizations to Kim Il Sung as presents after his death. The head of a French insurance brokerage firm sent 160 flower trees of 8 species, including arborvitae, yew, wild maple and rambler, to Korea. After hearing the news that the Kumsusan Memorial Palace in which Kim Il Sung lies in state was inaugurated, he had looked round the botanical gardens in his country and chosen the flower trees one by one. Russian horticulturist Lysov and his wife sent roots of dahlia of various colors, like red, white and pink. The president of the Danish Forest Society sent tree saplings of 200 species, and the UN Food and Agricultural Organization sent 13 species of flower seeds, including sun plant and China aster, collected in many parts of Italy.

The wish of mankind for his eternity is also reflected in the honorary titles conferred on him by foreign countries. The scientific institutions and universities in Belarus, Peru and several other countries conferred the titles of honorary academician, professor and doctor on him, and the Nepali Press Association and many other organizations elected him their honorary chairman or honorary special member. In April 2002, on the occasion of Kim Il Sung’s 90th birthday, a street newly built in Damascus, Syria, was named Kim Il Sung Street before being opened to traffic, and the decision on conferring the certificate of honorary citizen of Damascus on him was announced. The Council of Ccatca District Municipality, Quispicanchis Province, Cusco Region in Peru awarded the title of honorary president of the district in commemoration of the Day of the Sun in 2008.

The Russian international charity fund Mecenas of the Arts of the Century had Kim Il Sung’s name carved in the monument, Good Angels of Peace and presented to him Gold Ornament Knife of the Mecenas of the Arts of the Century and A Good Angel, a sculpture symbolizing the protector of the arts of the century. In addition, cities in Syria, Ecuador and other countries conferred the titles of honorary citizen, medals and gold keys on him.

For his great exploits in the cause of independence of mankind, Kim Il Sung receives orders and medals from foreign countries and international organizations even after his death. Among them are Social Order of Contribution to Victory of Russia, Sukarno Order of Indonesia, Solidarity Order of El Medi Ven Barca of the Organization of the Afro-Asian, Latin American Peoples Solidarity, Grand Medal of the Sun of the National Association of Writers and Artists of Peru and Order of Gold Star of Peace, the supreme order of the Governing Council of the Mongolian Peace and Friendship Federation.

President Kim Il Sung will live for ever enjoying the reverence of the world’s people.
