Songun guarantees peace on the Korean Peninsula

The situation of the Korean Peninsula is at a boiling point due to the US reckless moves against north Korea. But the Korean people are confident of victory as they believe in the validity of Songun politics, a precious sword to defend peace.

According to information available, the US military spending accounts for 48 percent of the world’s total military expenditure amounting to US$ 1,118 billion. This evidently reveals the US bellicosity and its ambition to dominate the world.

The aggressiveness of the arrogant and shameless Americans finds typical expression in the tragic events in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The US has infringed upon the sovereignty of other countries that are disagreeable to it by wielding military might in disregard of international law and the world opinion. However, it does not dare invade north Korea which it sees as a thorn in its flesh.

In retrospect, the situation on the Korean Peninsula has remained tense due to US acts of military provocation and war moves.

In the 1960s when the US armed spy ship Pueblo was captured by the navy of the Korean People’s Army in the territorial waters of north Korea the US military dispatched huge nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Enterprise to the waters around the peninsula, talking about retaliation and bombardment on Wonsan, a coastal city of north Korea.

At the time of Panmunjeom incident in the 1970s, it put both American and south Korean troops on standby, while deploying many formations of war planes including F-111 fighter bombers in south Korea and out it motion the aircraft carrier Ranger to show off its military force.

During the nuclear standoff on the Korean Peninsula in the 1990s, the US secretly examined a plan for preemptive nuclear attack on north Korea.

Particularly in the mid-1990s, the US staged war rehearsals against north Korea frantically to increase pressure on the latter, bragging that the collapse of north Korea is near at hand.

Although it cried for war every time, it could not put its words into action, because the peace-loving north Korea had a tremendous political and military potential.

North Korea whose sovereignty and the right to existence were under threat of foreign force held up the banner of Songun to protect the country, people and socialism from the US attempts to invade.

North Korea built up self-reliant defense strong enough to smash any US military adventure at a stroke.

Thanks to its military capacity peace has been maintained on the Korean Peninsula where the south and the north of Korea are standing in sharp military confrontation.

The security of the Korean nation lies in peace defended by Songun.

Songun is a powerful sword of justice that foils the US military provocation and war moves, defends the country’s peace and protects the destiny of the Korean people.

Kim Jong Suk, great woman soldier

December 24 marks the 89th birth anniversary of anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk.

Kim Jong Suk is still alive in the minds of the Korean people as woman commander of Mt. Baekdu, anti-Japanese war hero and distinguished bodyguard.

Keenly experienced the tradegy of national ruin by the Japanese imperialists in her early years, she joined in September Juche 24 (1935) the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army (KPRA) organized by and led by President Kim Il Sung, kicking off her revolutionary life as a great woman soldier.

She regarded it as the first mission of the arms to defend Commander Kim Il Sung, who was shouldering the destiny of the Korean nation.

She, a matchless crack-shot, distinguished herself by guarding the revolutionary headquarters at a lot of battles including the battle on the outskirts of Dashahe, the battle at Fusong county town and the battle at Hongqihe, thus setting a model of bodyguard.

In hundreds of battles during the anti-Japanese war, she fully demonstrated her keen perspicacity, accurate judgment, unrivalled courage and superb tactics as a woman commander of the guerilla army.

Even after the liberation of the country she, as a bodyguard of the headquarters, did her best to protect the personal safety of the President and poured her heart and soul into building a regular forces of revolution.

She frequented Pyongyang Institute, the Security Officers Training Center and other schools and training centers at all levels, leading the trainees to be servicemen of the leader armed with the revolutionary ideas and Juche-based tactics of the President and anti-Japanese guerilla method and style of work.

It was Kim Jong Suk who implanted in the mind of leader Kim Jong Il the idea that the Korean revolution should be accomplished at the point of bayonet.

He, remaining true to the noble intention of his mother, has firmly defended and successfully carried forward the Juche-based revolutionary cause with arms in the grave revolutionary struggle for many years.

The precious life of Kim Jong Suk serves as a source of patriotic zeal of the Korean people, who are striving hard to build a thriving nation while giving priority to the army.

Banner of “By our nation itself” should be held higher

The Koreans in the south, north and abroad should turn out in a struggle to resolutely foil the foreign forces’ attempt to launch a new war and their moves against Korea’s reunification with concerted efforts of the nation, keeping a tight hold on the banner of “By our nation itself” as the lifeline in achieving the country’s reunification and carving out the destiny of the nation.

There is no more influential ideological weapon than the idea of “By our nation itself” in achieving great national unity.

The Koreans can certainly overpower the foreign forces bent on aggression and dynamically advance the cause of independent reunification of the country when they hold high the banner of national unity and cooperation, cherishing the idea of “By our nation itself.”

It is important to hold fast to the stand of putting the nation above all in all fields of inter-Korean relations and the reunification movement, if national unity and cooperation based on the idea is to be boosted.

The stand of putting the nation above all calls for giving priority to the nation, approaching everything from the stand of defending the national dignity and meeting its interests and solving everything in reliance upon the strength of the nation itself.

This view and stand categorically rejects flunkeyism and dependence on the foreign force.

Tripartite solidarity among Koreans in the south, north and abroad should be further bolstered to give greater scope to the might of the driving force of the nation under the banner of “By our nation itself.”

Strengthened tripartite solidarity and its enhanced role are a sure guarantee for immensely boosting the might of the pro-reunification patriot force of the nation itself.

The eventful achievements made in improving the inter-Korean relations and developing the reunification movement in the wake of the publication of the June 15 joint declaration are all fruits of national cooperation brought by the patriotic enthusiasm and devotion of the three parties.

History and reality clearly prove the tripartite solidarity whereby to wage a nationwide joint struggle by pooling the patriotic strength and enthusiasm of all the fellow countrymen for reunification is a powerful driving force for accomplishing the cause of reunification.

There is no doubt that the might and role of the patriotic force for reunification of the nation itself will be drastically enhanced when all the pro-reunification patriotic forces in the south, north and overseas solidarize with one another in their organizations and social strata, achieve bilateral and multilateral solidarity and energetically wage diverse actions for solidarity and unity by enlisting all opportunities and possibilities.

It is the requirement of the times and history for all the Koreans to achieve great national unity under the banner of “By our nation itself.”

Visit to Yasukuni Shrine: What for?

Visits to the Yasukuni Shrine in Japan are incurring strong opposition from neighboring countries. The issue is a matter of international dispute.

What is the Yasukuni Shrine? What does visit to it mean?

The Yasukuni shrine, unlike other temples in Japan, is for soldiers killed in battles. The tablets kept there include those of Tojo and other top war criminals active in the World War , in particular.

It has an exhibition hall that has on display materials on the World War . This is aimed at admiring overseas aggression. So small wonder that the Yasukuni Shrine is denounced and condemned by the human conscience.

Nevertheless, the Japanese authorities visit the place very often. They justify their action by asserting that they visit it in order to “enjoy peace” with the thought that “they will unleash no war again.” It is quite preposterous to talk about peace in the Yasukuni Shrine where the ghost of militarism is hovering about.

The Japanese authorities visit the place for the purpose of implanting militarism in to the minds of the Japanese people.

In the past the Japanese imperialists abused worship for the “emperor” of Japan to drive its people into wars of aggression. So to speak, worship for the “emperor” of Japan made the ideological basis for the drawing up and execution of the policy of aggression, and served as the starting point of all military movements. It was regarded as a trait befitting the Yamato nation to die in wars of aggression for the “prosperity of the great empire of Japan” as intended by the “emperor.”

Worship for the “emperor” faded after the defeat of the Japanese imperialists in the war. The Japanese people, quite disappointed, would not believe in both the ruler and the “emperor.” Many of them began to worship the God, not the “emperor.”

Apprehensive of the change in the people’s mentality, the Japanese authorities tried to raise the depressed morale of the people by making use of the Yasukuni Shrine assuming the mask of religion. By implanting the spirit of the Yamato nation into the minds of the people through their visits to the Yasukuni Shrine they intended to make Japan the leader of Asia again. The Japanese authorities’ visits to the shrine substantially serve as a catalyzer in imbuing the Japanese people with militarism. The more the authorities visit the shrine, the more hectic the fever of militarism gets in Japan.

Hidden behind the authorities’ visits to the Yasukuni Shrine is also a wicked intention to maintain and strengthen their power by currying favor with the people.

The politically dull people of Japan are under illusion about the authorities while regarding their visit to the Yasukuni Shrine as something for the sake of the honor of the Yamato nation and the future of the nation. The authorities are infecting the Japanese with the idea that they should revenge the defeat of their country, thus making them unconditionally follow and support the militaristic politics.

What is worse is the ambition of overseas aggression behind the authorities’ visits to the Yasukuni Shrine.

They are trying to make their cou8ntry militaristic by fanning the fever of visit to the Yasukuni Shrine. This is aimed at preparing it to launch overseas aggression at any time. The flag “Hinomaru” and the song “Kimigayo,” the symbols of aggression in the past, are officially designated as the national flag and anthem; the attempt to revise the peace constitution that prohibits war is becoming worse with the passage of time; endeavors are made to distort the past crimes of the country and revise the history textbooks. The developments testify Japan’s ambition.

The Japanese authorities' visits to the Yasukuni Shrine result in the destruction of peace and security of Asia.

Now there exists severe political confrontation between Japan and neighboring countries, because of the Japanese authorities’ visits to the Yasukuni Shrine. Even at the mention of the Yasukuni Shrine, the neighboring countries and other Asian nations shudder as it reminds them of Japan’s invasion of them and brutal atrocities in the past. Still, the Japanese authorities keep visiting the shrine, gnawing at Asian people’s wounds difficult to heal. So small wonder that it recent years vigorous mass anti-Japanese protests took place in Asian countries.

The Japanese authorities’ visits to the shrine are developing a dangerous cause of military conflicts in Asia. As the fever of visit to the shrine is rising, the undertaking to make Japan a military power is being accelerated and the SDF’s overseas military operations are expanding. Japan is hell-bent on disputes for territorial claims against neighboring countries, aggravating confrontation with them. This gives rise to a crisis in which there may be a military conflict or a war at any time in Northeast Asia, one of the hottest spots in the world.

The world is keenly watching the development in Japan and the aftermath.
